Validation module for a scanned application Validation module for an online application 1. Application and batch ID number
In the top left area of the Validation module, the application ID will be displayed followed by the batch ID in parentheses.
2. Previous applications
This button will more than likely be grayed out at the beginning of each validation process. As you verify each student on an application, Strata Apps will detect if there is an existing application for that student in the system. If a student has any applications from a previous school year or from the current school year that was processed through Strata Apps, then clicking this button will display those application images.
3. Delete Application
You can delete an application during validation by clicking this button.
4. View Application
Clicking this button will open a new browser tab or window that will show you the full image of the application you are currently validating. Right-clicking the application image gives you additional options such as printing the image, zooming in to a specific area, or zooming out.
5. Toggle Notes
This button will show/hide the note icon that appears in the application image frame when a user makes a note on the application.
6. Hot Keys
To view a list of keyboard shortcuts that can be used in the Validation module, click this button. It will display the following tip window:
7. Prioritize Online
If your district is using the Strata Apps system to process scanned applications AND online applications, then you can use this button to organize the order in which applications are validated. Clicking this button will force the online applications to be the first to be validated if there are both online and scanned applications waiting for validation.
8. Preferences
Clicking this button will open the Validation module's Preferences pop-up.
You can customize which notifications will appear by checking or un-checking the respective boxes. For example: If you would like to have Strata Apps notify them when an application has a student from their Direct Certification list, then you should check the "Display Direct Certification notification" box. With that preference checked, the text "this student is directly certified" will appear on the screen during Validation whenever an application has a student from the district's Direct Certification list.
9. Application image frame
This part of the Validation screen displays the image of the application that is being validated.
For scanned applications, this frame will automatically zoom in to the section of the application that is being validated in the data entry frame. For example: If the data entry frame is asking the user to verify the applicant's benefit number, then the application image frame will be zoomed in to the part of the application where it asks for the applicant's benefit number.
To view other parts of the application, the user will need to click-and-drag the application image frame to pan around the image or click on the View Application button to view the full image of the application.
For online applications, this frame displays a simulated image of a meal application.
10. Data entry frame
This frame controls the application's data. You can interact with the fields in this frame to determine the information that is sent to your Point of Sale (POS).
The goal for scanned applications is to ensure that the values in the application image frame match the values in the data entry frame. However, if needed, you can use the data entry frame to enter information that was missing from the original application. For example: you can select an income frequency in the data entry frame regardless of whether or not the original application image has a filled in bubble for the income frequency.
It is recommended that any change made to an application is logged and noted by right-clicking the application image frame and selecting 'Add note'.
For online applications, the data entry frame would primarily be used to verify that each student on the application is actually a student in your district.
11. Time Validating Application
This timer shows how much time has been spent on the current application. It will turn yellow if you are starting to take too long and will turn red if you are taking longer than expected.
12. Average Per Application
This is a calculated time based on how much time has been spent per application in one Validation session.
13. Applications Remaining
This is the number of applications that need to be validated including the one currently being viewed.
